Vampire Counts Army – Part 4

So last week I had made a good start on the painting of the Vampire Counts Lord. Having finished you can see the showcase pictures after the jump:

Overall the areas that I am most happy with are the skin and the armour. Skin tones are one area I am looking to improve in so for this to have come out looking right I am very happy. Having never done snow bases before I have decided to go with a light snowfall effect to help finish the model off. For the snow itself I used Army Painter Battlefield Basing Snow Flock. The Tufts and flock are also from Army Painter.

Skeleton Unit 1

Next up is the first of 2 Skeleton Units

Vampire Counts Skeleton

Even though I had already done a test model I felt that I needed to do another quick test before really getting into the unit. This was mostly because I was unsure about how to paint the shield. Having decided on bronze for the Shield I used Warplock Bronze, Agrax Earthshade, RuneLord Brass and Seraphim sepia to get the effect I wanted. The method for the Bone was Karak Stone, Agrax Earthshade, Rakarth Flesh, Seraphim Sepia, Rakarth Flesh and Paild Wych Flesh. A trick I used when painting skaven was to use the same wash for the whole model which greatly speeds the process up, whilst this wash is then drying I can start the next set and bring that up to the wash stage. This helps when painting large numbers of basing troops quickly.

Hopefully now I can crack on and make some progress on this unit, as I have in the region of about 70 skeletons to paint plus unit fillers and thats before I can get onto more of the fun stuff in the army. Check back next week and hopefully I can share more progress
